Doing Somatic Exercises. The Goal is to learn to relearn and use the full movement for example of the shoulder or hip. To relearn a relaxed rest position.

Chronical muscle tension don’t get released during sleep. They are also active during sleeping, so there is no relaxation. This is because the muscles got a false memory and think the tensed state is the normal relaxed state.
Also to tense muscles are always active and not relaxed muscles and consume a lot of Energy of the body. This can lead fast do tiredness.
I am noticing very well, when my body is tensening. So my shoulders and neck get often tense during my work at the university. But also sometimes just standing or walking up. So there must be some subconscious triggerment.
After climbing last week I did a dynamic jumping training. Jumping to the next hold. There were no problems for my arm. So why there are situations my arms tense up and others they feel great.
Not so cool. After going for a little a 45 min bike ride at some medium speed after a work out. The pain in at my muscles on the right leg came back. The muscles then pull at my knee and cause pain at my knee. The main muscles involved are the left part of the quadriceps and also a muscle on the inside of the leg going to the knee pit. The pain feels like a pulling or sometimes stinging pain.
My best guess, the muscle was in a lot of stress after the work out and then going for a bike ride with maybe some bad position for my leg, gave the muscles the rest.
Drumming + Pain Cause Prevention:
Feels amazing practicing every morning. Just starting with easy free play, getting the head free, relaxing. After a time I feel ready for some practice with the metronome. Doing some technique, accent and rudiment practices.
I noticed in my older videos, I bent my body forward. This bad posture put a lot of weight on my legs, making it harder to play the basedrum. So for every stroke I had to lift the leg + the extra weight of my body leaning forward. Also my foot was rotated in relation to my knee, not being in line, causing more stress on the muscles. Another factor that did help I think is, that I changed my home working set up and lowered it all. Before when I was sitting at my desk, my feet were almost not touching the ground, putting a lot of stress on the muscles always working to keep the legs up.
Playing Drums each morning. It feels great. It’s awesome just having fun.
I am also playing with my right leg again since like 3 Month not having really used it because of pain for over 4 years. So that’s awesome.
Drumming its self can be a form of meditation just getting lost in the music, no thinking about am I playing correct, how is my technique, what should I play next….
Played really easy this morning practicing rebound strokes.
This evening I recorded another drum cover and I felt really great. I tried to cover this song a few weeks ago but I was to tense.
And again so much to do. As it looks all the pain comes from Muscle Tension and Bad Posture. So I am working on those both.
- Doing balance training
- stretches for my hip, forearm and chest
- mobilization for my hip and chest
- active going into max tension and slowly going into the relaxed state of the chest muscle
- Massage for my feet and forearm
If I would need to choose only three, I would say doing the forearm stretches, a relaxing mediation and the chest muscle relaxation is the best to do.
2 Week Challenge:
No optical improvement in the mirror. But I am more and more aware of my posture. Standing I notice that all my weight is on my heels and I am trying to correct it more often. Also every time I get by a mirror or if I think about it, I let go in my hips and bring my upper body more forward.
So here is a picture of my posture. Not so good, back lean in the upper buck, incorrect pelvis position and rounded shoulders.
Step by Step instead of all at once:
As I mentioned before I am doing or always want to do everything at once. I want to build a house in one day just to see clear results. I stop most of the things because I see no results. Mabey because the only result I aspect is just being pain free, and all little successes get ignored immediately when some pain comes back. But who builds a house in one day. Just putting down one stone each day, every day. That’s easy everybody can do that, and after some time the house will be finished with no effort.
